Finance Trustee Advert

New Voluntary Trustee Vacancy for Financial Management

We are looking to recruit a new Trustee for Financial Management to join our current board.

This is a voluntary unpaid post.

About Teckels

Teckels Animal Sanctuaries is an animal rescue charity based in Whitminster, Gloucester.   Our vision is a world where all animals are well cared for, respected and their needs understood.  Teckels never puts a healthy pet down, but as you can imagine, this comes at a cost, especially with our long-term residents.

We provide a boarding facility and a rehoming centre of excellence for cats and dogs.  We aim to reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs by educating the public on the responsibilities of animal ownership.

The successful applicant will be a Trustee of Teckels Animal Sanctuary and a Director of Teckels Boarding Kennels.

The Trustee Role

This Trustee role is to lead on the financial management of both the rehoming sanctuary and the boarding kennels on a voluntary basis.

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Lead on financial management and review of policies and procedures
  • Support the Finance Assistant with day to day management
  • Lead on meeting Financial Charity regulations
  • Overview of monthly salary pay, tax and NI
  • Implement financial initiatives to support the Charity and business
  • Collaboration with other Trustees and the Site Manager on other relevant projects as required and within a specific timeframe.

We are looking for someone who has financial experience and expertise and ideally an accountancy qualification.  The trustee will be required to provide expert advice and guidance when required together with a desire and, more importantly, the time and commitment to support the charity.

Previous experience of the charity sector would be desirable but previous trustee experience is not required.

Your Commitment

Trustee meetings are held every month, usually on a Monday from 5pm at the sanctuary.  You will be required to be in contact with the Finance Assistant every week to stay updated and offer support if required.  As you would expect there will be a little more involvement from you to support with the financial year end and submission of the accounts.  All trustees get involved with the various fundraising events throughout the year which is great fun and an ideal opportunity to engage with the public and raise the charity’s profile.

Next Steps

If you have financial or accountancy experience with a passion to support animals with us through our charity, then we’d love to hear from you.

If you are interested in applying for this exciting opportunity then please send a covering letter outlining your skills and experience, your interest in this role along with a copy of your most recent CV to our Chair of Trustees, George Ridd, on:

The closing date for applications is Sunday 31st May at 12pm and we plan to have virtual interviews the following week.
